Bowler
As an 11-year-old, Megan Schutt took a wicket with the very first ball she bowled in a game of cricket and that was very symbolic of what was to come for the fast bowler. From that game, Schutt got involved in the South Australian cricket pathways, playing in underage teams until making her SA Scorpions debut in the 2009/10 WNCL season. It didn’t take long for Schutt to be parachuted into the Australian squad and she made her international debut in 2012, becoming a mainstay of the Australian team. She won the first World Cup she was involved in, finishing the 2013 event in India as the leading wicket-taker no less. That was her first of five World Cup victories so far, along with Ashes wins and Commonwealth Games gold. In 2019, Schutt became the first woman in international cricket to take two hat-tricks – her first against India in a T20I game and the second in a ODI against West Indies. In early 2021, she became the second-fastest female to 100 ODI wickets. With all of her international experience, Schutt has plenty of offer to her State squad and is the current captain of the SA Scorpions.
