Early start to international cricket at Adelaide Oval in 2025/26

The Christmas Test will be bookended by two international white-ball cricket matches in what promises to be an unforgettable summer at Adelaide Oval this 2025/26 season.

The South Australian Cricket Association (SACA) are excited to be hosting India in a must-see return to Australia for an ODI on October 23 before the commencement of the NRMA Men’s Ashes Test Match on December 17.

After playing in front of a record-breaking crowd last season, the Australian Women’s team will take on India at Adelaide Oval in a T20 on February 21.

The Hon Peter Malinauskas MP, Premier of South Australia said:

“This is a formidable fixture at what is the world’s greatest cricket ground.

“Last week I witnessed first-hand just how seriously the people of India take their cricket, and hosting both Men’s and Women’s Indian sides, alongside a pre-Christmas Ashes Test, will put Adelaide centre stage.”

SACA President William Rayner said:

“The fixture gives South Australian cricket fans an early opportunity to see world-class cricket in action at Adelaide Oval.

“There’s incredible interest from across the globe for the upcoming summer of cricket at Adelaide Oval. We know that SACA Members and cricket lovers from across the world are keenly anticipating the men’s Ashes Series. Today’s announcement only adds to that excitement, with two additional games scheduled against the superstar men’s and women’s Indian teams.

“The updated schedule gives South Australian cricket fans another chance to get behind our local heroes playing on an international stage following on from the enthralling series that’s just taken place.”

Todd Greenberg, Cricket Australia CEO said:

“We are excited to announce the schedule for what will be another incredible international season including the grand history and intense rivalry of the Ashes, the fantastic box office appeal of the India men and women’s teams and a return to some iconic tourist locations in northern Australia for the white ball series against South Africa.

“We look forward to bringing international cricket to fans across the country with 11 cities and 14 venues hosting matches throughout the season including matches in every state and territory capital for the first time in 17 years.

“We’re especially excited to bring world class cricket to wonderful Adelaide Oval with the NRMA Insurance Ashes Test and white ball matches against India men and women and extremely grateful for the strong support of the South Australian Government and the SACA in staging these matches.

“We smashed many records for attendance, viewing audiences and digital engagement last summer and we’re confident these matches will create brilliant experiences for South Australians and travelling cricket fans and fantastic benefits for the local economy and businesses.”
