Guide to the Sheffield Shield Final at KRO

The South Australia Cricket Association is embarking on the biggest transformation of Karen Rolton Oval in its history. The ground will evolve from the standard venue to one that will accommodate the heightened expectations of fans, players, and officials for the Sheffield Shield final between South Australia and Queensland beginning Wednesday, March 26.

The ground and surrounding parklands will welcome temporary infrastructure to service fan and Member experience, optimise player comfort, and meet broadcasting requirements. Viewing platforms will be constructed on the east bank, and an additional grandstand providing seating for patrons. Large LED screens will be set up at both the northern and southern ends of the ground to present live coverage of the on-field action.

To accommodate more attendees, the rear oval will feature a large LED screen for live game viewing, along with community cricket activities. These will be available from 4pm on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, as well as throughout the day on Saturday and Sunday. Additional restroom facilities will also be provided on the rear oval and around the main ground.

Kristy Slater, Head of Match Day and Events, said “It’s an incredible time for Cricket in South Australia and the extensive temporary infrastructure built around Karen Rolton Oval within a six-day bump-in window, not only elevates the experience for SACA Members and cricket fans, but also strengthens the legacy of cricket in our community.

We’re incredibly thankful to the South Australian Government, City of Adelaide, South Australian suppliers and the South Australian Cricket Association’s partners to ensure we are transforming Karen Rolton Oval into a world-class venue for the Sheffield Shield Final.”

This event will bring a festival atmosphere to the west end in an already “Mad March.” The SACA acknowledges the loyalty of South Australian cricket fans, and we encourage everyone to visit Karen Rolton Oval over the five days to support our South Australia Men and celebrate a dominant season.
