South Australia is off to a strong start in WNCL campaign at Karen Rolton Oval, beating the ACT by 97 runs on Friday and four wickets today.
Courtney Webb has continued her stellar start to the season, following up her run-a-ball 40 in the first match with a commanding half-century today at Karen Rolton Oval.
The opening two games of South Australia’s WNCL campaign have also introduced fresh talent to the squad, with Ellie Johnston taking home Player of the Match today after her first WNCL half century finishing on 65 not out, while Emmerson Filsell made her debut today.
Bridget Patterson has looked in fine touch, starting both innings aggressively. Patterson smashed 32 off 21 balls in the opening game and backed it up with a solid 42 from 45 deliveries today. With 12 boundaries already under her belt this season, Patterson’s form with the bat has been matched by her sharp work behind the stumps, securing four catches so far. She’s shaping up for a massive summer.
Jemma Barsby has led from the front, delivering a Player of the Match performance in the opening game with a vital 58 runs, chipping in with a wicket and another two today the captain also showcased her fielding prowess with a brilliant run-out.
Youngster Eleanor Larosa has impressed as well, notching up an unbeaten half-century in the first game and claiming three crucial wickets today, demonstrating her all-round capabilities.
The team’s fielding has been exceptional across the two games, with 16 catches and a run-out highlighting the high standards South Australia have set early this season.
The SA Women are back at Karen Rolton Oval on Friday, 4 October and again on Sunday, 6 October when they take on Tasmania.
