SACA Statement: Dan Harris

Former South Australian cricketer Daniel Harris has been appointed Vice-President of the South Australian Cricket Association following a unanimous decision at the most recent SACA Board meeting.

A member of the Board since 2022, Harris replaces James Orchard who stood down from the role in June to take up his new position on the Cricket Australia Board.

In addition to his extensive on-field experience during a 13-year interstate playing career during which he captained South Australia at Sheffield Shield and One Day Cup level, he is a doctor who works as an Emergency Consultant and a Medical Retrieval Consultant.

As such, Harris brings a vast range of expertise to the position which further complements and enhances the skills and proficiency of the SACA Board.

A life member of the Woodville District Cricket Club where he played for more than 20 years, he is currently a member of SACA's Premier Cricket Committee.

Harris's playing experience also features stints in Australia's Big Bash League (including a pivotal role in SA's 2010-11 grand final triumph over New South Wales) and the Indian Premier League where he represented Deccan Chargers. More recently, Harris was part of the panel that appointed Simon Insley as General Manager Cricket, a position the former New Zealand Cricket High Performance Manager began earlier this month.

SACA President Will Rayner congratulated Harris on his election as Vice-President.

"Dan has been an asset to the SACA Board since joining in 2022 and I look forward to continuing to work closely with him in this new role," Mr Rayner said.
