The South Australian Cricket Association would like to congratulate Tanunda Cricket Club & The Barossa Council on receiving the ‘Highly Commended’ award in Cricket Australia’s Community Facility Project of the Year for 2023/24.
The Community Facility Project of the Year forms an important part of Cricket Australia’s Community Cricket Awards and recognises excellence in infrastructure projects that deliver on Australian Cricket’s strategic objectives, include environmentally sustainable design, and facilitate successful stakeholder relationships.
Tanunda Recreation Park was nominated after receiving South Australia’s Community Facility of the Year award earlier this year.
This project has been delivered by The Barossa Council in funding partnership with the South Australian Government, Australian Cricket and local sporting clubs and community donors.
Cricket Australia and SACA were proud to contribute to this project via the Australian Cricket Infrastructure Fund.
This project forms part of The Barossa Council’s ‘The Big Project’ which is the region’s largest and most ambitious community infrastructure project. It provides a blueprint for investment in recreation, culture, and social infrastructure over a 35-year horizon and includes multiple investments into cricket infrastructure across the region.
The Tanunda Recreation Park redevelopment was officially opened in July 2024 and features a multi-faceted facilities upgrade including clubrooms, changerooms, a new junior oval, oval enlarging, lighting upgrade to 300 lux, resurfacing of main oval with 5 wicket new turf pitch square, new drainage, irrigation, and synthetic practice facility.
SACA would like to thank The Barossa Council, SA Government, Tanunda Cricket Club and Tanunda Football Club for facilitating the delivery of this fantastic project for the Barossa Region.
