This week, Scorpions coach Andrea McCauley continues to update us on the pre-season.
“The team faced one of their big pre-season tests this week and the group was nervous leading up to their 2km time trials. The hard work the team has put in so far seems to have paid off as everyone smashed their previous times. It was a great result and can I say the girls were very chuffed with themselves! So they should be, it’s a credit to their pre-season efforts so far.
We swapped our regular Saturday morning Mt Lofty fitness session for a skills session last week, much to the girls’ delight. The introduction of some competitive sessions meant a few players were up and about a bit more than usual.
Monday night saw Cricket Australia’s Throwing Coach, Andy Utting, conduct a training session. Andy has a baseball background, and the mechanics that he taught the group made it a very worthwhile session. Several throwing techniques were carefully monitored and we hope to see some improvements in this area for the season.”
